Stevan Marković (26 December 1804, Zemun – 29 November 1864, Vienna) was Serbian politician and member of the Society of Serbian Letters. ==Biography== Marković finished elementary school in Zemun in 1815, and high school in Sremski Karlovci in 1821. He studied at university in Austria, and in 1834 he moved to Serbia. at first he was a court scribe in Kragujevac in 1834, and from 1835 Marković was a member of the Government, and also Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister. Marković become Director of the Prince's office on 28 September 1837, and the chief secretary of the Soviet government 1839th He was a member of the Council from 1842 to 1857. He was appointed on 27 May 1842 as the first member Society of Serbian Letters (the predecessor of Academy), and was its president from 1854 to 1857. Marković was the Minister of Justice and Education from 21 December 1854 to 29 May 1856 and from 16 September 1856 to 19 June 1857. He was Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs from 29 May to 16 September 1856, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of 19 June 1857 to 31 March 1858.
